NEW DELHI: Marking 11 years of the Digital India initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the transformative power of technology and lauded India’s youth for spearheading innovation that is driving the nation’s self-reliance and global digital leadership.
In posts shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister commended the progress made over the past decade in digital governance, public service delivery, and tech-driven empowerment. Highlighting the role of young innovators, Modi emphasized that their contributions are central to India’s emergence as a global technology powerhouse.
“Powered by the youth of India, we are making remarkable progress in innovation and application of technology. It is also strengthening our efforts to become self-reliant and a global tech powerhouse,” the Prime Minister said.
Reflecting on the broader impact of the Digital India mission, Modi noted that digital tools have significantly improved transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in governance, particularly benefiting marginalized communities.
“Leveraging the power of technology has brought innumerable benefits for people. Service delivery and transparency have been greatly boosted. Furthermore, technology has become a means of empowering the lives of the poorest of poor,” he added.
Launched in 2015, Digital India has catalyzed advancements across digital payments, e-governance, start-up innovation, and last-mile internet connectivity. As the nation marks this milestone, the emphasis on youth-led innovation reaffirms India’s long-term commitment to tech-driven development and digital inclusion.
