Gold’s best year in decades in the making—what can make it happen
World Gold Council expected 2025 to be a modest year after the breakneck rally in 2024. However, the precious metal has already broken the 2024 record, and if the latest estimates hold, this might be the best year since 1979.

With projections increasingly nearing $4,000 and ounce, 2025 may be the best year for gold prices in decades. Even by the relatively conservative estimate from Goldman Sachs, which pegs gold at $3,700 by end-2025 — implying a 13.5% upside from current levels — it would mean a rally of over 40% this year, beating records since 1979, the year of the Islamic revolution in Iran.
